Guideline Moves through Review Process
A third round of public comments on
Legionella
guidance from ASHRAE, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers, was expected to be completed in December. ASHRAE had called for comments on its publication Guideline 12-2000R,
Proposed Revision of Guideline 12-2000, Managing the Risk of Legionellosis Associated with Building Water Systems
. Proposed revisions to the guideline included new descriptions of legionellosis and
Legionella
, potable water systems, ornamental water features, and cooling towers.
Legionella
Guideline 12 also provides guidance related to the implementation of ASHRAE Standard 188,
Legionellosis: Risk Management for Building Water Systems
, which was the first industry standard in the U.S. to address Legionnaire’s disease prevention. Standard 188 was recently revised to clarify compliance requirements and facilitate adoption of the standard for regulatory purposes. More information on
