AIHA Forms International Alliance for Indoor Environmental Quality
AIHA and five fellow founding members recently announced the establishment of the Indoor Environmental Quality Global Alliance. The mission of IEQ-GA is to advocate for indoor climate and health in buildings. The new international association will serve as a global platform to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and information and to promote education and research related to IEQ and health in buildings. The announcement was made during the 40th Air Infiltration and Ventilation Centre conference, which was held Oct. 15–16, 2019, in Ghent, Belgium.
IEQ-GA’s founding members include AIHA; AiCARR, the Italian Association of Air Conditioning, Ventilation, and Refrigeration; AIVC, the Air Filtration and Ventilation Center; ASHRAE, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers; ISHRAE, the Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers; and REHVA, the Federation of European Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning. The members of IEQ-GA are committed to working together to promote education, research, and knowledge exchange at a global scale; to develop standards, codes, and guidelines; and to advocate for the well-being of the general public in indoor environments worldwide. In this alliance, AIHA is represented by Georgi Popov, who was appointed as AIHA director, and Dave Dahlstrom, who was appointed as alternate director.
“We are very proud to be founding members of the IEQ-GA,” said AIHA President Kathleen S. Murphy, CIH. “AIHA’s vision is a world where all workers are healthy and safe. By addressing indoor environmental quality, we are making important strides toward making this a reality.”
IEQ-GA invites interested organizations to become members and join forces to achieve better IEQ in buildings across the world. For more information, visit the IEQ-GA website or read AIHA’s press release.
