OSHA Technical Manual Now Includes Chapter on Fall Protection in Construction
A
new chapter
for the
OSHA Technical Manual
on fall protection in construction provides technical information on fall prevention, fall arrest systems, and hazard assessment, as well as detailed images of protection equipment. According to OSHA, the chapter will help agency compliance officers conduct inspections in the construction industry. The chapter is not intended as a guide for the development of compliant fall protection programs as it does not include a full list of OSHA requirements for fall prevention and protection methods.
The chapter’s section on fall prevention focuses on different types of guardrail systems, hole covers, and warning or marking systems. Safety net systems, personal fall protection equipment for personal fall arrest systems (PFAS), and fallen worker rescue are included in the section on fall arrest systems.
