Michael Brisson received the Harlan J. Anderson Award for his outstanding contributions to ASTM International Committee C26 on Nuclear Fuel Cycle. Brisson chairs the C26 subcommittees on Methods of Test and Quality Assurance, Statistical Applications and Reference Materials. He is principal technical advisor at Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, LLC.
David Eherts, CIH, PhD, was recently appointed as a member of OSHA’s Whistleblower Protection Advisory Committee, which makes recommendations on ways to improve the fairness, efficiency, effectiveness, and transparency of OSHA’s whistleblower protection programs. Eherts is vice president, global EHS, at Actavis Pharmaceuticals.
Chuck Geraci, PhD, CIH, was recently appointed NIOSH Associate Director for Nanotechnology by NIOSH Director Dr. John Howard. Geraci will oversee the day-to-day management of the agency’s Nanotechnology Research Center and will develop initial strategies for NIOSH to participate scientifically in several growing areas of nanotechnology.
Nicole Greeson, CIH, was recently elected chair of the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH). Greeson is a member of several AIHA committees and working groups, and is vice chair of the new Mentoring and Professional Development Committee. She is a safety and health specialist at Duke University.
Rachel Kumar, CIH, was recently named a “Rising Star of Safety” by the National Safety Council. The Rising Stars of Safety awards recognize outstanding young professionals who transform company safety through implementing safety initiatives. Kumar is an industrial hygienist at Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, LLC.
Congratulations to AIHA members George Gruetzmacher, PhD, CIH, CSP, PE; Sheryl Milz, PhD, CIH; and Susan Arnold, MSOH, CIH, who were elected to serve as directors on the ACGIH Board of Directors in October. ACGIH’s membership also elected three new members to its 2015 Nominating Committee, including AIHA members Eric J. Esswein, MSPH, CIH, CIAQP; Sarah Locke, MSPH, MS, CIH; and James H.
