MSHA Launches New Training Center Web Page
MSHA launched a new MSHA Training Center Web page in November that collects all of the agency’s training materials in one place. The Training Center includes resources such as downloadable best practices pocket cards, safety and health training videos, MSHA’s Handbook Series, and health and safety alerts. Links to review the most current regulations for the mining industry—30 CFR Part 46 and Part 48—are also available. Part 46 covers the aggregate industry, including granite, sand, gravel, lime, and cement operations. Part 48 covers all underground mining and surface mining of coal and some metals.
The page also features a section on developing training plans for Part 46 and Part 48 mines. The MSHA Training Plan Advisor provides guidance on developing federally required training plans for mines, and allows plans to be submitted online. MSHA also offers a training plan starter kit with a sample training plan to help trainers develop effective, mine-specific training programs that meet the provisions of Part 46.
