Going GREEN!
To help reduce waste and AIHA Connect’s footprint on the environment, AIHA and our suppliers have partnered on the following initiatives:
• Transitioning the printed Advance Program and Final Program to fully digital, eliminating paper product, fuel, and emissions used to transport programs via mail.
• Reducing the Final Program page count by listing session descriptions and exhibitor company addresses and descriptions online.
• Ticketless registration.
• Digital Pathway Passport game found in the mobile app/virtual platform.
• Digital signage outside meetings rooms and for directions.
• Badges made from recycled materials, which can also be recycled.
• Banners and signs made of eco-board.
• Recycle stations for paper, cans and bottles, badges/lanyards (NEW!), and other items located throughout the GCCC meeting space.
• Water bottle refill stations located near restrooms throughout the GCCC.
• The GCCC North Building has been awarded the LEED Silver Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.
• Levy Catering offers biodegradable disposable service ware and kegged coffee (versus brewed) and sources locally to reduce impacts of transportation and fuel emission while also supporting small businesses and the local economy.
To help us “green” the conference, we encourage you to:
• Go digital (rather than print). Download any presentations and handouts. Take notes digitally. • Consider donating to a carbon offset program of your choice (or your company’s) to balance your AIHA Connect carbon footprint. • Use public transportation or ride share. • Recycle your paper, plastic, and glass in the receptacles provided throughout the convention center. • Recycle your name badge and lanyard at the end of the conference. • Bring a reusable water bottle to refill at water stations throughout the convention center.
