Stephen Chiusano, MPM, MHS, CIH, FAIHA Principal Chiusano & Associates
While all five parts of the 2025–2027 strategic plan support AIHA’s mission and vision, I believe the most critical is pursuit of knowledge, where AIHA will develop and disseminate cutting-edge educational and career-enrichment resources to support OEHS professionals. As we learned during COVID-19, the ability to rapidly develop high-quality OEHS products that meet global OEHS foundational educational needs, encourage professional development, and foster cutting-edge research to address longstanding as well as emerging OEHS concerns demonstrated our value to society. As treasurer, I will objectively apply my many years of experience as the OHTA-US Chapter treasurer, my experience on the AIHA Finance Committee, and as treasurer of a successful business toward helping keep AIHA financially sound and set for completing its mission, as well as for growth and weathering future storms and challenges.

The five domains within the 2025–2027 strategic plan collectively ensure that AIHA is positioned for success in achieving our mission and vision of a world where all workers and their communities are healthy and safe. I believe all of these domains are critical to propelling the organization forward. Among them, impact and awareness will act as the cornerstone to the organization’s future success. This domain, and specifically the goal around building a sustained pipeline of potential members and future OEHS professionals, will ensure AIHA is the home for the next generation of OEHS and occupational hygiene professionals. Through attracting and retaining members and volunteers with diverse sets of backgrounds, opinions, and experiences, we will not only help address the pending shortage of professionals in our field but elevate the impact we make on workers and their communities for years to come. As an AIHA treasurer-elect candidate, my commitment would be to model the behaviors outlined in the AIHA core values and align my decision-making on the Board with our short- and long-term financial goals to ensure AIHA is set up for success to achieve our 2025–2027 strategic plan.
