Revised Z10 Management Systems Standard Now Available
ANSI and the American Society of Safety Professionals have released a revision of ANSI/ASSP Z10, Health and Safety Management Systems. According to an ASSP press release, the new Z10 “improves organizational alignment and communication by eliminating silos and integrating planned processes into business systems.” Writing in the March 2019 issue of The Synergist, Thomas Slavin, a member of the ANSI/ASSP Z10 committee, explained that the revised Z10 adopts the ten-section structure of ISO 45001, the world’s first global standard for occupational health and safety management systems, which was released last year. Slavin indicated that using the ISO standard’s structure was intended to make ISO 45001 certification easier for users of Z10 to achieve. ANSI/ASSP Z10-2019 can be purchased from ANSI and from ASSP. For more information about Z10, read Thomas Slavin’s article “Active Health and Safety.”
