NIOSH, NHCA Are Accepting Nominations for the Safe-in-Sound Awards
NIOSH and the National Hearing Conservation Association (NHCA) are now accepting nominations for the 2017 Safe-in-Sound Excellence and Innovation in Hearing Loss Prevention Awards, which recognize excellent hearing loss prevention practices in the work environment. Applicants are evaluated against key performance indicators in a review process designed to evaluate hearing loss prevention programs in each of three work sectors: construction, manufacturing, and services. A fourth award for Innovation in Hearing Loss Prevention recognizes individuals or business entities, regardless of sector or North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code affiliation. This year, NIOSH and NHCA are accepting third-party nominations in addition to self-nominations. Third parties are encouraged to submit letters nominating candidates who have demonstrated excellent hearing loss prevention practices in the workplace. Nomination letters should provide brief descriptions of the candidates’ noise control or other hearing loss prevention initiatives and provide any evidence of effectiveness. Third-party nomination letters should be submitted via e-mail to Deanna Meinke at
deanna.meinke@unco.edu
. NIOSH and NHCA continue to encourage self-nominations for the Safe-in-Sound Awards. Self-nominations may be submitted online. The deadline for third-party nominations is June 1, 2016. The deadline for self-nominations is July 15, 2016. For more information, visit the Safe-in-Sound
