NIOSH Launches Virtual Center to Promote Lifelong Worker Well-being
NIOSH’s new National Center for Productive Aging and Work (NCPAW) will focus on the safety of workers of all ages, lifetime well-being, and “productive aging,” an approach that seeks to provide a healthy and safe work environment for everyone using strategies that allow workers to function optimally at all ages. The virtual center will also help NIOSH facilitate collaborations with other federal agencies, academic institutions, and stakeholders; develop new interventions; and highlight best practices for creating “aging-friendly” workplaces. NCPAW is hosted by NIOSH’s Office for Total Worker Health, which aims to improve integrated workplace practices and advance worker safety, health, and well-being. NCPAW seeks partnerships with other organizations, researchers, and stakeholders. To help NIOSH identify and develop materials for an age-diverse work force, or to learn more about related research or educational opportunities, e-mail the center’s new co-directors, Jim Grosch and Juliann Scholl.
