OSHA Extends Comment Period for RFI on Chemical Management
OSHA has extended the comment period on its request for information (RFI) on chemical management and permissible exposure limits (PELs) to Oct. 9, 2015. Comments were originally due April 8, but the agency extended the deadline after multiple stakeholders, including AIHA, requested more time to respond.
OSHA is considering issues related to updating its PELs as part of the agency’s review of its overall approach to managing occupational exposures to chemicals. The agency seeks public comment regarding current practices and future methods for updating the PELs and new strategies for protecting workers from chemical exposures. OSHA specifically requests suggestions related to streamlined approaches for risk assessment and feasibility analyses and alternative approaches for managing chemical exposures, including control banding, task-based approaches, and informed substitution.
Stakeholders can view the RFI and supporting documents and submit comments via Regulations.gov
