EPA Launches IAQ Assessment App for Schools
In August, EPA launched a new mobile app that helps schools and school districts perform comprehensive indoor air quality (IAQ) facility assessments. App users can access 11 IAQ checklists that can be used to assess different areas of a school facility when conducting a walkthrough. The new app also provides access to guidance from EPA’s “IAQ Tools for Schools Action Kit,” which includes best practices, industry guidelines, sample policies, and a sample IAQ management plan for schools. Other features of the app include the ability to submit completed checklist assessment forms to an IAQ coordinator for tracking purposes and the ability to attach pictures and notes about IAQ problem areas to completed checklists. According to EPA, the app complements existing IAQ management programs, and schools can use the app to identify and prioritize IAQ improvements. The app is available for download via EPA’s website.
